Tragedy Strikes Tragedy: Comic Delay and Drawing Time Extensions

November 13, 2011 | Justin

Unfortunately, for various reasons, DAPshow has delayed Theatre of Tragedy from being published until 2012. It’s a shame, but it is something we had to do, and overall it is for the betterment of the book. Apologies to all the artists who have had to wait on this, especially the ones waiting since March, but trust us on this — it will be worth it.

The plus side to this is that we WILL be accepting entries in the meantime, and extending the deadline until at least February 2012. We will have an exact date soon, but for now it’s just that month span.

To learn more about what/how to submit, take a stroll to the Theatre of Tragedy.

Gothology Comics Goes Digital

July 15, 2011 | Justin

In case ygraphicly digital comicsou missed our Twitter announcement, both The Eternal Sad and Misery Loves Company are available digitally through Graphicly. Future releases of all DAPshow and Gothology comics will also be released digitally. This is a pretty big step for DAPshow so we’re all pretty excited about it. The digital market allows us to release very affordable copies to consumers, and allows them to bypass the high expenses of of buying the comics printed.

We fully endorse digital comics and will focus on them a lot more in the near future. This isn’t the only app/site we will use to distribute comics, Gothology and Dapshow comics will be available in many other formats. This will take a little while, though, so bear with us. In the mean time, we wouldn’t mind you checking out our comics with Graphicly ;).

In all serious, Graphicly is one of the better digital comic applications around. So we suggest using it for digital comics regardless.

Comics for Theatre of Tragedy are due today

July 15, 2011 | Justin

That’s right, the time has finally come. Comic submissions for the anthology Gothology Book III: Theatre of Tragedy are due today. We will be spending the next day or two going over the comics we have, and will then be sending releases and any corrections out to artists who have made it into the book.

For artists who don’t make it into the book, we will try our best to contact you as well, but we can’t make any promises.  We’ve been busy with a lot of “real life” things recently, so we might not have the time to contact everyone. Just know, though, we greatly appreciate everybody’s efforts and would sincerely like to express our gratitude for everyone who submitted works, expressed interest, and helped us get this book done. Really, I don’t think we would have finished this book without all the help we have gotten this time around.

There is no set release as of the moment, but it probably still a couple of months off. We have something special planned this time around which will delay printing for a little while. It will be well worth it, though, if all goes to plan. I would love to elaborate more on this, but for the moment,  just hold on tight for a little longer.. an announcement on this will be coming within the next month or two.

The Eternal Sad Turns 2 Years Old Today

July 1, 2011 | Justin

Eternal Sad

Erhm, Children of the Night, you may have noticed that there’s a “special” front page for Gothology Comics. In case you don’t know how to read (in which case, this probably won’t help), we are begrudgingly celebrating the two year anniversary of  Gothology today, and for the next week. We goths know the best way to celebrate… by moping. Really, I am more upset that I have allowed myself to live these last two years — oh, the torture life has brought me.

Erhm, we will also be celebrating by making Gothology: The Eternal Sad available for only 14 dollars in the DAPstore (+shipping) while supplies last. So, if you haven’t already bought one, now would be the perfect time.

Erhm, but that is not all children, both The Eternal Sad and Misery Loves Company will be available digitally soon for only $4.99 each. Now you can sulk on the go without having to lug around such a huge book. More information on this will be made available shortly. Just think of all the extra stakes and crosses will will be able to buy with that leftover money?

Comic anthology Theatre of Tragedy: New Deadline for Artists

June 16, 2011 | Justin

Today we bring both good news and bad news. The bad news is we are about 70 pages short of a completed book and a release of Theatre of Tragedy is still a ways off. The good news however is we are placing a second deadline, so if you missed our original deadline, you still have a chance to get your comic/art in. The new deadline will be the 15th of July. You may also recognize that date as sir Ian Curtis’ birthday.

Our prediction of Tragedy coming on 4/20/11 may have been off, but if Harold Camping has taught us anything, it’s that we can just pick another date, and we feel very good about 7/15/11.

A reminder of our submission guidelines:

3+ page comic relating to the theme (must be b/w or grayscale/toned)
1 photo/drawing for artist bio
Contact Info (e-mail, website)/A paragraph or two about yourself for artist bio

Page Sizing:

6.625 x 10.25 inches (168 x 260 mm)
With bleed, 7 x 10.5 (178 x 267 mm)
For safety, text should be inside 6 x 9 inches (152 x 229 mm)
Text that is in the bleed, will most likely get cut off
Pages must be at least 300dpi

We are taking Illustrations, as well. Same size requirements, and should have contact information sent in with them. Inside front and inside back illustrations can be in color. We can only use a few illustrations for each book (though, we will hold ones we like for future books).

You can also view the official Theatre of Tragedy page for some more information.

Email submissions to gothology(at)dapshow(dot)com!

In other news, happy Number of the Beast Day.
